Why is the Reichstag Building in Berlin, Germany so significant?

The Berlin based Reichstag Building is one of the most historically and symbolically charged buildings. It is in the heart of German cities that major historical periods in the country’s history have unfolded and is today a symbol of democracy.

The Historical Significance

Historical interest for the Reichstag Building is multiplied by its multifaceted history which makes this place always attractive for visitors as well as for Berlin inhabitants. Originally designed during 1892—1894 it originally served as a home for the Imperial Diet of the German Empire. Over the years, it has been fire damaged, bombed in World War II, and has experiences long periods of abandonment.
