by | Mar 7, 2024 | Free Tours

Germany’s capital is a big city bubbling with museums, lakes, restaurants, markets, and lots of exciting activities to engage in. There are a thousand and one things you can do on your visit to the bubbling city of Berlin. If you’re in the city whether as a visitor or a local having a boring day, here are the top 3 things you can do in Berlin today.

  1. Visit the Reichstag

This is one of Germany’s most iconic buildings and it is where the Parliament sits. It is open to tourists but you’d have to book in advance during the peak season, preferably several weeks ahead because of the tons of people who want to take a tour too. The original parliament building was destroyed and replaced with this glass dome. For a truly remarkable experience, book in advance via the German government for a special English or French tour and cool off with a glass of drink and lunch at the café at the top of the building overlooking Berlin’s biggest park.

  1. Visit Museum Island

Germany is famous for the tons of museums, and Museum Island, which is located in the heart of Berlin, is home to 5 iconic museums with splendid artifacts and designs from all over the world. You could spend a whole day hopping from one museum to the other if you’re a lover of museums. The 5 museums here are the Pergamon Museum, Neusea Museum, Bode Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, and Altes Museum. It’s highly recommended you book tickets ahead of time to skip the long queues.

  1. Eat some traditional food

You can’t visit Berlin and not taste its sumptuous cuisine. After strolling the city, you’d be hungry and German food is just the perfect treat for your belly. Schnitzel is a great food to try out and if you’re a vegetarian, you can try out food like Kaesespaetzle (German mac and cheese) and Gemuese Maultasche. If you’re more than one or two persons visiting a restaurant, it’s advised you make reservations to be on the safer side because restaurants are always packed.
